CREATING
A MORE VIBRANT WACO.
In 1979, Frances Sturgis, friend of First Lady Claudia “Lady Bird” Johnson, who introduced the national beautification effort during Lyndon B. Johnson’s presidency, convinced Waco leaders to establish the Greater Waco Beautiful Association that would actively support ongoing beautification efforts in Waco.
In 1981, the GWBA was incorporated and became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. GWBA soon thereafter became a certified affiliate of Keep Texas Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful. For over 45 years we have held gold statuses with both affiliates, including winning several grants and awards to further our mission.
To celebrate the incredible work this organization, board, volunteers, and community partners have done to create a more vibrant Waco, Texas, we are celebrating 45 years of Keep Waco Beautiful! Donate to our 45 for 45 campaign, fundraising $45,000 to propel our work forward for years to come.
THANK YOU!
Thank you to those who have contributed to over 45 years of Keep Waco Beautiful! Thank you to Francis Sturgis and her family for continuing her legacy in Waco, Texas.
